The 2025 growing season is off to an excellent start — a complete turnaround from last year. In early June 2024, we were simply grateful to see any signs of life after the winter freeze.

This year tells a different story. The mild spring led to an early start, and the vineyard is already lush and vibrant — an uncommon sight for this point in the season. We are also seeing exceptional flowering throughout the vineyard. The combination of warm, sunny days and well-timed rainfall has provided ideal growing conditions so far.

All signs are pointing to a significant crop rebound this year. To explain: when an extreme event, such as the 2024 winter freeze, damages the buds, the vines produce little or no fruit that season. In the process, they store nutrients and energy. The following year, with healthy buds and stored reserves, the vines can produce a much heavier crop — this is the rebound effect.

With this in mind, we expect to rely on crop thinning and green harvesting to ensure we maintain the level of quality you have come to expect. What a welcome challenge!

Cheers,

Lauren
